Level 1 Page

hey guys i'v added a page to the wiki for the first level that will act as a development template. Please go see and add iteams to the page. add images of your shacks or buildings uv created. Leigh can upload the map, so we can keep a runing list of things to do and things that have been done.

  1. The camp concept looks good! Is that a sort of stone building like in Assassin's Creed? Because if it is I can start on a variation that I have in my mind. Perhaps one a bit bigger with several floors you can explore? I'm guessing that would fit in well if it's where he grew up. Maybe it could be his house?

    Just a thought about actual 3D if it's going into XNA... Can we have separate objects in a single FBX file? As I can see in the picture, each part with a different texture would obviously be a separate object within Max, but can that be regarded as a single entity in XNA if it's in an FBX? We don't need to attach it all together and have hell with the texturing do we? Or have each object as a separate FBX and have absolute hell in XNA. Lol.

    Oh and it's very important we all decide upon a measuring system. What units are we working in? We need to be able to scale things so we know someone's pot isn't going to be bigger than an entire building, for example, lol. I know you can scale things after, but it'd be good to start off with the right scale as that will aid keeping things in proportion. Perhaps we can decide upon that together, figure it out, and write up a page on the wiki detailing the scale of objects in relation to each other.

  2. I think everybody working to the same scale is a very good idea. It will make it a whole lot easy from the start for the end result.
