Programming Log

Me and Dom have started work on the first alpha version of this game, with Dom working on the camera code and me working on navigation between the different states of the game (i.e. Main Menu, Game Playing etc.)

We've posted our progress on the wiki, if anyone wants to see what we've achieved so far.

The program directory should be something like 'ShatteredAlpha1\ShatteredAlpha1\bin\x86\Debug' when you extract the ZIP file.

UPDATE: Updated the link, as the previous page no longer exists.

Ok, as I'm a muppet, I forgot to get all your names as you chose them tuesday evening. Hit me with them...the story will go on the wiki tomorrow.

Here are some images from Howls Moving Castle and Spirited Away, the things you need to look for in these pictures are the proximity of the buildings to each other (the way they clump up on the wall) and a lot of detail on them (especially on the Spirited Away images.

Names, names, names.

Pretty please with a cherry on top, can you lovely guys think of names for your characters. I'll post the finished story on the wiki when I have character names. Also, any suggestions for the name of the kingdom...?

The Wall

Here is the first draft of the wall concept, I don't want to spend much more time on doing concept stuff, I'd rather it didn't get on top of me when I've got better things to do (such as rebuild the prince) I'll probably give drawing some of the other characters a shot tonight, maybe lol. I wont colour them though :P

I would like to point out the bricks are way to large, it was to much effort to make them small, just imagine them a lot smaller for the scale.

The Prince Arrives

Here is the two peices of work that I have created for the prince, the first is the original design, that I thought was to simple and not asian enough to pull off, the second however is the new and final design, I may still change the top of the arm armour and make it rounded off rather than simply cut off, but until that point this will do.

I would like it to be understood that this is not a finished piece, it's pretty obvious anyway but I wanted to show you guys before I carry on with the rest of the works.

King died from curse, possibly turning into Micheal Jackson...

Background story has been established...story details in game to be decided.

Assasins Creed style kingdom, big castle, town area surrounded by big wall.

Level1

Desert bit, settlement, oasis. NPCs learn background story.

Level2

Getting into the kingdom. Scaffolding up the big wall, climbing over and down the otherside.

fighting styles

So I was thinking about the fighting in game from a programming prospective and couldn't remember what style we said. Are we going for a button bash stylie or will it be turn based fighting like final fantasy? I think turn based would be easier for us to programme. But I also think we could attempt a button attack style...

Any thoughts on this or how we see the fighting working?
